Involved Projects and Packages
HTML documentation for PHP.
This package contains the PHP5 core files, including PHP binary (CLI)
and PHP configuration (php.ini). This package must be installed in
order to use PHP. Additionally, extension modules and server modules
(e.g. for Apache) may be installed.
Additional documentation is available in package php-doc.
This package is a little cache system optimized for file containers. It is
fast and safe (because it uses file locking and/or anti-corruption tests).
This package adds the components.ez.no channel which allows PEAR packages
from this channel to be installed.
This package adds the pear.phpunit.de channel which allows PEAR packages
from this channel to be installed.
This package adds the pear.symfony-project.com channel which allows PEAR packages
from this channel to be installed.
Pure-FTPd is a fast, production-quality, and standard-conforming FTP
server, based-on Troll-FTPd. Unlike other popular FTP servers, it has
no known security flaws, is trivial to set up, and is especially
designed for modern Linux kernels (setfsuid and sendfile capabilities)
. Features include: PAM support, IPv6, chroot()ed home directories,
virtual domains, built-in LS, anti-warez system, bandwidth throttling,
FXP, bounded ports for passive downloads, upload and download ratios,
Apache log files, and more.
An integrated interface to current and future infrastructural services offered
by Amazon Web Services. Currently, this includes:
* Simple Storage Service (S3)
* Simple Queue Service (SQS)
* Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2)
* Mechanical Turk
* SimpleDB
* CloudFront

The Google data Python Client Library provides a library and source
code that make it easy to access data through Google Data APIs.
QPDF is a program that does structural, content-preserving
transformations on PDF files. It could have been called something
like pdf-to-pdf. It also provides many useful capabilities to
developers of PDF-producing software or for people who just want to
look at the innards of a PDF file to learn more about how they work.
QPDF offers many capabilities such as linearization (web
optimization), encrypt, and decryption of PDF files. Note that QPDF
does not have the capability to create PDF files from scratch; it is
only used to create PDF files with special characteristics starting
from other PDF files or to inspect or extract information from
existing PDF files.
re2c is a tool for writing fast and flexible lexers. Unlike other such
tools, it concentrates solely on generating efficient code for matching
regular expressions. This makes it suitable for a wide variety of
applications. The generated scanners approach hand-crafted ones in
terms of size and speed.
Squid is a caching proxy for the Web supporting HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, and
more. It reduces bandwidth and improves response times by caching and
reusing frequently-requested web pages. Squid has extensive access
controls and makes a great server accelerator.
Squid 3.0 represents a major rewrite of Squid and has a number of new
features.
The most important of these are: - Code converted to C++, with
significant internal restructuring and rewrites.
- ICAP implementation (RFC 3507 and www.icap-forum.org)
- Edge Side Includes (ESI) implementation (www.esi.org)
Most user-facing changes are reflected in squid.conf.
SuperLU is an algorithm that uses group theory to optimize LU
decomposition of sparse matrices. It's the fastest direct solver for
linear systems that the author is aware of.
Docu can be found on http://www.netlib.org.
T1lib is a library for generating character and string glyphs from
Adobe Type 1 fonts under UNIX. T1lib uses most of the code of the X
Window System rasterizer donated by IBM to the X Window System project.
Some disadvantages of the rasterizer included in the X Window System
have been eliminated.
TagLib is a library for reading and editing the meta-data of several popular
audio formats. Currently it supports both ID3v1 and ID3v2 for MP3 files, Ogg
Vorbis comments and ID3 tags and Vorbis comments in FLAC, MPC, Speex, WavPack
TrueAudio, WAV, AIFF, MP4 and ASF files.
The tmpwatch utility recursively searches through specified directories
and removes files which have not been accessed in a specified period of
time. tmpwatch is normally used to clean up directories which are used
for temporarily holding files (for example, /tmp)..
There are multiple tools called "tmpwatch", this package contains the
Fedora/Redhat version available at https://fedorahosted.org/tmpwatch
Vsftpd is an FTP server, or daemon. The "vs" stands for Very Secure.
Obviously this is not a guarantee, but the entire codebase was written
with security in mind, and carefully designed to be resilient to
attack.
Recent evidence suggests that vsftpd is also extremely fast (and this
is before any explicit performance tuning!). In tests against wu-ftpd,
vsftpd was always faster, supporting over twice as many users in some
tests.
ftp://ds.internic.net/rfc/rfc1950.txt (zlib format), rfc1951.txt
(deflate format) and rfc1952.txt (gzip format). These documents are
also available in other formats from
ftp://ftp.uu.net/graphics/png/documents/zlib/zdoc-index.html.
Asio is a cross-platform C++ library for network and low-level I/O
programming that provides developers with a consistent asynchronous I/O
model using a modern C++ approach.
This program allows you to run jobs at specified times.
BIABAM is a small tool, useful when you want to mail attachments from
the command line. It has similarities to mailing attachments from the
commandline with Mutt, but it only depends on bash and uuencode.
Common C++ is a GNU package which offers portable "abstraction" of
system services such as threads, networks, and sockets. Common C++
also offers individual frameworks generally useful to developing
portable C++ applications including a object persistance engine, math
libraries, threading, sockets, etc. Common C++ is small, and highly
portable. Common C++ will support most Unix operating systems as well
as Win32, in addition to GNU/Linux.
The Common UNIX Printing System provides a portable printing layer for
UNIX operating systems like BSD lp or lprng. CUPS provides some
additional features.
