Involved Projects and Packages
The Perl script colordiff is a wrapper for 'diff' and produces the same
output but with pretty 'syntax' highlighting. Colour schemes can be
customized.
Tig is a git repository browser that additionally can act as a pager
for output from various git commands.
When browsing repositories, it uses the underlying git commands to
present the user with various views, such as summarized revision log
and showing the commit with the log message, diffstat, and the diff.
Using it as a pager, it will display input from stdin and colorize it.

The core analysis suite is a self-contained tool that can be used to
investigate either live systems, kernel core dumps created from the
netdump and diskdump packages from Red Hat Linux, the mcore kernel
patch offered by Mission Critical Linux, or the LKCD kernel patch.
This package contains a cross-architecture capable version of crash
which is not mature yet (that's why the 'crash' package is shipped in
addition). With this version you can open dumps from another
architecture. Please read README.SUSE before you use it.
Andrew Morton originally developed a set of scripts for maintaining
kernel patches outside of any SCM tool. Others extended these into a
suite called quilt. The basic idea behind quilt is to maintain patches
instead of maintaining source files. Patches can be added, removed or
reordered, and they can be refreshed as you fix bugs or update to a new
base revision. quilt is very powerful, but it is not integrated with
the underlying SCM tools. This makes it difficult to visualize your
changes.
Guilt allows one to use quilt functionality on top of a Git repository.
Changes are maintained as patches which are committed into Git.
Commits can be removed or reordered, and the underlying patch can be
refreshed based on changes made in the working directory. The patch
directory can also be placed under revision control, so you can have a
separate history of changes made to your patches.
kdump is a package that includes several scripts for kdump, including
the init script /etc/init.d/kdump and the configuration file for kdump.
Tig is an ncurses-based text-mode interface for git. It allows you to
browse changes in a git repository and can additionally act as a pager
for output of various git commands. When used as a pager, it will
display input from stdin and colorize it.

TkDiff is a graphical 2 and 3-way diff/merge tool.
USBprog is a programmer for the USBprog hardware.

Xcolorsel displays colors defined in rgb.txt. You can create an RGB
file by redirecting the output of showrgb to a file.

kdump is a package that includes several scripts for kdump, including
the init script /etc/init.d/kdump and the configuration file for kdump.
The kernel package and this package are all that are required for a
crash dump to occur. However, if you wish to debug the crash dump
yourself you will need several debugging packages installed for each
kernel flavor and release you wish to debug.
For example, if you are debugging kernel-default, you will need:
- kernel-default-debuginfo
- kernel-default-devel
- kernel-default-devel-debuginfo
These packages are not needed to create the dump and can be installed
after a crash dump has occured.
