'rmmod', 'depmod', and 'modprobe'. The configuration file
/etc/modprobe.* can be used to pass parameters to the modules. 'depmod'
should be used after compiling a new kernel to generate the dependency
information. 'insmod' does not use the dependency nor the options file.
Therefore, 'modprobe' is normally used to load a module.

Sparse is a semantic parser of source files: it's neither a compiler
(although it could be used as a front-end for one) nor is it a
preprocessor (although it contains as a part of it a preprocessing
phase).
It is meant to be a small - and simple - library. Scanty and meager,
and partly because of that easy to use. It has one mission in life:
create a semantic parse tree for some arbitrary user for further
analysis. It's not a tokenizer, nor is it some generic context-free
parser. In fact, context (semantics) is what it's all about - figuring
out not just what the grouping of tokens are, but what the _types_ are
that the grouping implies.
Sparse is primarily used in the development and debugging of the Linux
kernel.

Spew is used to measure I/O performance of character devices, block devices, and regular files. It can also be used to generate high I/O loads to stress systems while verifying data integrity.
Spew is easy to use and is flexible. No configuration files or complicated client/server configurations are needed. Spew also generates its own data patterns that are designed to make it easy to find and debug data integrity problems.

LTTng (Linux Trace Toolkit Next Generation) is a tracer for Linux.
It is a kernel module accompanied by a toolchain (ltt-control) to control the tracing, as well as a trace viewing and analysis application (LTTV).
LTTng includes a set of kernel instrumentation points useful for debugging a wide range of bugs, that are otherwise extremely challenging.
These include, for example, performance problems on parallel systems and on real-time systems.
LTTng is designed for minimal performance impact and has a near zero impact when not tracing. LTTng has at least basic support for all Linux architectures.
