xine is a free multimedia player. It plays back CDs, DVDs, and VCDs. It
also decodes multimedia files like AVI, MOV, WMV, and MP3 from local
disk drives, and displays multimedia streamed over the Internet. It
interprets many of the most common multimedia formats available - and
some of the most uncommon formats, too.

XSane does not support any scanners itself. XSane uses the SANE library
to talk to scanners that are supported by SANE.

XSane is designed for acquiring images with scanners (there are other
devices like cameras and video devices supported by SANE, but XSane is
not designed for that purpose). You can scan to file, make a photocopy,
create a fax, and start XSane from the GIMP as a GIMP plug-in.

XSane may not work correctly or you may not be able to take full
advantage of all functions if you do not configure XSane correctly. See
the documentation at /usr/share/sane/xsane/doc/sane-xsane-doc.html.

The XSane home page is http://www.xsane.org/.

This package installs several important configuration files. Central
scripts like SuSEconfig are also in this package.

analyzeMFT.py is designed to fully parse the MFT file from an NTFS filesystem and present the results as accurately as possible in a format that allows further analysis with other tools. At present, it parses the attributes from a $MFT file to produce the following output:

Record Number
Good - if the entry is valid
Active - if the entry is active
Record type - the type of record
Record Sequence - the sequence number for the record
Parent Folder Record Number
Parent Folder Sequence Number
For the standard information attribute:
Creation date
Modification date
Access date
Entry date
For up to four file name records:
File name
Creation date
Modification date
Access date
Entry date
Object ID
Birth Volume ID
Birth Object ID
Birth Domain ID
And flags to show if each of the following attributes is present:
Standard Information, Attribute List, Filename, Object ID, Volume Name, Volume Info, Data, Index Root, Index Allocation, Bitmap, Reparse Point, EA Information, EA, Property Set, Logged Utility Stream
Notes/Log - Field used to log any significant events or observations relating to this record
std-fn-shift - Populated if anomaly detection is turned on. Y/N. Y indicates that the FN create date is later than the STD create date.
usec-zero - Populated if anomaly detection is turned on. Y/N. Y indicates that the STD create date's microsecond value is zero.

For each entry in the MFT a record is written to an output file in CSV format.

Clamz is a little command-line program to download MP3 files from
Amazon.com's music store. It is intended to serve as a substitute
for Amazon's official MP3 Downloader, which is not free software.
Clamz can be used to download either individual songs or complete
albums that you have purchased from Amazon.

cryptsetup is used to conveniently set up dm-crypt based device-mapper
targets. It allows to set up targets to read cryptoloop compatible
volumes as well as LUKS formatted ones. The package additionally
includes support for automatically setting up encrypted volumes at boot
time via the config file /etc/crypttab.

dc3dd is a patched version of GNU dd to include a number of features useful for computer forensics. Many of these features were inspired by dcfldd, but were rewritten for dc3dd.

dosbox is a DOS emulator that, thanks to its good graphics and sound
emulation, is exceptionally well-suited for playing games. dosbox
features a built-in DOS operating system and transparent access to the
Linux file system and is therefore very easy to use.

ext4magic is a small tool for Linux administration, it can help to recover accidentally deleted or overwritten files from an ext3 or ext4 file systems. Especially private computers often lack an adequate and reliable backup or the backup interval is too large lack of capacity. After some minor or major accidents console or script often arises the question, how can I just restore the deleted files back?

Authors comment about version v0.3.0 in Feb 2012

For me, the program and its functions completed tested and stable
up to 16TByte filesystem size. 64Bit file systems are not implemented.

Not tested at the moment:
- the new library releases form last 2 Weeks libmagic and libext2fs
- file systems written with new Kernel (only testet written with 2.6 Kernel)
- BigEndian CPUs not testet very extensively

GeoIP is a C library that enables the user to find the country that any
IP address or hostname originates from. It uses a file based database.
This database simply contains IP blocks as keys, and countries as
values. This database should be more complete and accurate than using
reverse DNS lookups.

MaxMind offers a service where you can have your database updated
automically each month.

A GTK key theme that make ctrl-u, ctrl-w and ctrl-h work in text
entries and text views. In contrast to the Emacs key theme which
redefines many other common key bindings (like ctrl-p) this is
one is reduced to the bare minimum to make text entries usable.

The Little Brother's Database (lbdb) consists of a set of small tools
that collect mail addresses from several sources and offer these
addresses to the external query feature of the Mutt mail reader.

To use the fetch address feature, put the following lines in your
.procmailrc:

:0hc | lbdb-fetchaddr

To use the database in mutt, put the following line into your .muttrc:

set query_command="lbdbq %s"

The goal of ldns is to simplify DNS programming, it supports recent RFCs like
the DNSSEC documents, and allows developers to easily create software
conforming to current RFCs, and experimental software for current Internet
Drafts. A secondary benefit of using ldns is speed; ldns is written in C it
should be a lot faster than Perl.

This package holds the tools/examples from ldns.
