This is not a package - more than a meta place for the kdeedu4 packages
from the KDE:KDE4 project.
KDing is a KDE frontend for Ding, a dictionary lookup program. It is a simple
program sitting in KDE's system tray that can translate the current clipboard
content. The user can also enter a single word or a phrase which is then
translated using Ding.
KDing is intended to translate between German and English, but as it uses Ding
to do the actual translation it can be used for every language for which a word
list is available for Ding.
KDissert is a mindmapping tool dedicated to the creation of complex
documents: dissertations, thesis, presentations, and reports. It
features several document generators: latex reports, latex slides
(based on Prosper and Beamer), OpenOffice.org writer and impress, html,
and plain text.
Two kiosktool templates for education.
Klavaro is GTK3 free touch typing tutor program. We felt like to do it because we became frustrated with the other options, which relied mostly on some few specific keyboards. Klavaro intends to be keyboard and language independent, saving memory and time (and money).
GDS2 (chip layout) viewer for the chip design engineer.
The main objective was to focus on the basic functionality but adding some
useful features that many, even commercial viewers don't have:
* shows the design as it is
* can animate layers to make them blink or scroll the fill pattern.
* display a layer "marked" by drawing a small cross on all shapes<
All comes wrapped in a nice, Qt based state of the art GUI. Usage of the viewer
is simple and is similar to that of other tools.
KLogic is an application for building and simulating digital circuits easily.
It provides an easy way for building circuits containing standard components like AND, OR, XOR and flipflops like RS and JK. In order to build more complex, more structured and reuseable circuits, sub circuits can be used.
The simulation is running permanently per default while building your circuits.
Single stepping simulation makes it possible to analyze peaks in circuits. Karnaugh graphical analysis method and others are available for simplifying purposes.
Signal flow of components can be displayed as a graph.
Each device of a circuit has a tuneable delay.
With special devices like RAM, tristate and bus it is possible to create computer related circuits easily.
The KLogo-Turtle is a useful tool for teaching geometry and the basic principles of the programming of computer. Children can study the mathematics of geometry in an interactive and constructive way.
KLogo-Turtle has syntax a little different than the LOGO language developed at MIT. Look at the documents link. Comments, doubts and suggestions, please use the e-mail link.
KLogo-Turtle supports commands in the languages english, portuguese, german, italian and french.
Knoda is a database front-end for MySQL and PostgreSQL, which also
contains a generic ODBC driver. You can use it for creating tables and
databases, forms, reports, and queries. Knoda has also an export and
import filter for CSV files.
The package also contains a general library with dialogs for the
handling of databases, which can be used in other applications.
Koha is a full-featured open-source ILS (Integrated Library System).
In use worldwide, its development is steered by a growing community
of libraries collaborating to achieve their technology goals. Koha's
impressive feature set continues to evolve and expand to meet the
needs of its user base.
This package is based on the package 'kseg' from project 'openSUSE:Factory'.
KSEG is a program for exploring Euclidean geometry. You can create a
construction, such as a triangle with a circumcenter, then, as you drag
verteces of the triangle, you can see the circumcenter moving in real
time. KSEG is very fast even in big and recursive constructions and may
well be used in math lessons in school.
KSociograma is a technical software for teachers. It allows you to make sociograms, a 2-D network sociological diagram, for a group of students. It is very useful to know the group and prevention.
This version is a stable version, but only with traslations to english, german and spanish.
Kst is the fastest real-time large-dataset viewing and plotting tool available and has basic data analysis functionality. Kst contains many powerful built-in features and is expandable with plugins and extensions.
KTechLab is an Open Source Intergated Design Environment (IDE) for electronic and PIC microcontroller circuit design and simulation.
Featuring an extensive circuit designer with autorouting and simulation of many common electronic components and logic elements, KTechLab is the idea tool for educational or hobbyist use.
KTechLab features an easy to use, flowchart based PIC program designer - Flowcoder; along with a BASIC like programming language called Microbe. Programs designed by these tools can be added to any circuit design as a 'virtual' PIC allowing complex microcontroller based circuits to be created.
KTechLab supports a wide range of Open Source PIC programmers, enabling finalised PIC programs to be quickly and easily transfered to a real PIC microcontroller.
This package is based on the package 'latex-beamer' from project 'openSUSE:Factory'.
The beamer class is a LaTeX class that allows you to create a beamer
presentation. It can also be used to create slides. It behaves
similarly to other packages like Prosper, but has the advantage that it
works together directly with pdflatex, but also with dvips.
Once you have installed the beamer class, the basic steps to create a
beamer presentation are the following:
* Specify beamer as document class instead of article.
* Structure your LaTeX text using \section and \subsection commands.
* Place the text of the individual slides inside \frame commands.
* Run pdflatex on the text (or latex and dvips).
The beamer class has several useful features: You don't need any
external programs to use it other than pdflatex, but it works also with
dvips. You can easily and intuitively create sophisticated overlays.
Finally, you can easily change the whole slide theme or only parts of
it.
pgf stands for `portable graphics format'. It is a TeX macro package
that allows you to create graphics in your TeX documents using a special
pgfpicture environment and special macros for drawing lines, curves,
rectangles, and many other kind of graphic objects. Its usage closely
resembles the pstricks package or the normal picture environment of
LaTeX.
Although pgf is less powerful than \pstricks, it has the advantage that
it can generate both PostScript output and pdf output from the same
file. The pgf package works together both with dvips and pdftex. In
particular, packages that rely on pdftex or pdflatex (like some packages
for creating presentations) can be used together with pgf.
Lazarus is a free and open source Rapid Application Development tool for
the FreePascal compiler using the Lazarus component library - LCL. The LCL
is included in this package.
libcaca is a graphics library that outputs text instead of pixels, so that it
can work on older video cards or text terminals. It is not unlike the famous
AAlib library, with the following improvements:
* Unicode support
* 2048 available colours (some devices can only handle 16)
* dithering of colour images
* advanced text canvas operations (blitting, rotations)
Libghemical is a software library which contains all of the computational chemistry functionality of the ghemical application.
This package is based on the package 'libmikmod' from project 'openSUSE:Factory'.
Libmikmod is a portable sound library, capable of playing samples as
well as module files. It was originally written by Jean-Paul Mikkers
(MikMak) for DOS. It supports OSS /dev/dsp, ALSA, and Esound and can
also write wav files. Supported file formats include mod, stm, s3m,
mtm, xm, and it.
Ghemical is a computational chemistry software package released under the
GNU GPL.
This package contains the backend stuff that is needed to run Ghemical.
LilyPond is a music typesetter, an automated engraving system. It
produces beautiful sheet music using a high level description file as input.
LilyPond supports many forms of music notation constructs, including
chord names, drum notation, figured bass, grace notes, guitar tablature,
modern notation (cluster notation and rhythmic grouping), tremolos,
(nested) tuplets in arbitrary ratios, and more.
LilyPond's text-based music input language support can integrate into
LaTeX, HTML and Texinfo seamlessly, allowing single sheet music
or musicological treatises to be written from a single source. Form and
content are separate, and with LilyPond's expert automated formatting,
users don't need typographical expertise to produce good notation.
LilyPond produces PDF, PostScript, SVG, or TeX printed output, as well
as MIDI for listening pleasures. LilyPond is exported from the
RoseGarden and NoteEdit GUIs, and can import ABC, ETF and MIDI.
Little Wizard is a GTK+ development environment for children.
