Involved Projects and Packages
ASeqView is an ALSA sequencer user client that works as an event viewer
and event filter. It visualizes received events, such as note on and
off, controls, and pitch wheels, using bar graphs as seen in many
sequencer applications.
Aubio is a library for real time audio labelling. Its features include
segmenting a sound file before each of its attacks, performing pitch
detection, tapping the beat and producing midi streams from live audio.
The name aubio comes from 'audio' with a typo: several transcription
errors are likely to be found in the results too.
The AWESFX package includes utility programs for controlling the
wavetable function on SB AWE32/64 and Emu10k1 sound cards.
cachefilesd is a user-space management daemon for CacheFiles, a generic
caching framework for mounted filesystems.
The compcache is a RAM-based block device acting as a swap disk. This
can effectively increase the available memory on your machine by
virtually swapping pages into the compressed memory.
This package contains the boot script for loading/unloading the
modules. The modules are contained in compcache-kmp packages.
This package contains misc stuff for supporting Broadcom Crystal HD
driver.
This package contains the library to support the hardware decoding of
H.264 video stream with Broadcom Crystal HD chips.
Csound is a software synthesis program. It is fully modular and
supports an unlimited amount of oscillators and filters.
For detailed information, refer to http://www.csounds.com.
Disposable Soft Synth Interface (DSSI, pronounced "dizzy") is a
proposal for a plug-in API for software instruments (soft synths) with
user interfaces, permitting them to be hosted in-process by Linux audio
applications. Think of it as LADSPA-for-instruments or something
comparable to a simpler version of VSTi.
FFTW is a C subroutine library for computing the Discrete Fourier
Transform (DFT) in one or more dimensions, of both real and complex
data, and of arbitrary input size.
FLAC is an open source lossless audio codec developed by Josh Coalson.
FluidSynth (formerly IIWU Synth) is based on the SoundFont(tm) 2
specifications. It is a real-time "software synthesizer". FluidSynth
can read MIDI events from the MIDI input device and render them to the
audio device. It can also play MIDI files.
FluidSynth-DSSI is the plug-in implementation of fluidsynth on DSSI
(Disposable Soft Synth Interface) with a GTK+ GUI.
FreqTweak is a tool for real-time audio spectral manipulation and
display. It provides several algorithms for processing audio data in
the frequency domain and a highly interactive GUI to manipulate the
associated filters for each algorithm. It also provides high-resolution
spectral displays in the form of scrolling-raster spectrograms and
energy versus frequency plots displaying both preprocessed and
post-processed spectra.
A graphical mixer program for ALSA. Its GUI is based on GTK+.
Gnash is a Free Flash movie player, which works either standalone, or
as a Firefox/Mozilla plugin.
Gnash supports the current Shockwave format, version 7. While all the
ActionScript classes exist, not all of the methods defined by the SWF
format documentation are implemented however, so not all flash movies
work 100% if they utilize any of the unimplemented methods. This is one
of the areas to work on to achieve full version 7 compliance.
This package contains the gstreamer-plugin for Broadcom CrystalHD
decoder chip.
GNOME Wave Cleaner (GWC) is a tool for cleaning up noisy audio files in
preparation for burning to CDs. The typical application is to record
the audio from vinyl LPs, 45s, 78s, etc, to a hard disk as a 16-bit,
stereo, 44.1khz wave formatted file then use GWC to apply denoising and
declicking algorithms.
HP DriveGuard for SuSE. Can protect hard disks on HP laptops by
spinning them down when shaking or free-fall is detected.
Hydrogen is a simple real-time Drum machine and sequencer for computer
aided composition (CAC). It supports OSS and JACK outputs and ALSA
sequencer MIDI input.
Icecast is a MP3 and OGG streaming server able to serve many clients
with MP3 and OGG audio.
IceS is a source client for a streaming server. The purpose of this
client is to provide an audio stream to a streaming server such that
one or more listeners can access the stream. With this layout, this
source client can be situated remotely from the icecast server.
JACK is system for handling real-time, low latency audio
(and MIDI). It runs on GNU/Linux, Solaris, FreeBSD, OS X and
Windows (and can be ported to other POSIX-conformant
platforms). It can connect a number of different
applications to an audio device, as well as allowing them to
share audio between themselves. Its clients can run in their
own processes (ie. as normal applications), or can they can
run within the JACK server (ie. as a "plugin"). JACK also
has support for distributing audio processing across a
network, both fast & reliable LANs as well as slower, less
reliable WANs.
JACK Rack is a stereo LADSPA effects rack for the JACK audio API. You
can insert LADSPA effects through JACK Rack. It uses GTK+ 2 for the
GUI.
jackEQ is a tool for routing and manipulating audio from and to
multiple input/output sources. It runs in the JACK Audio Connection
Kit and uses LADSPA for its back-end DSP work. jackEQ is designed
specifically for live performance.
