Involved Projects and Packages
This package contains various tools for configuring Prism2 cards driven
by the HostAP kernel module. In particular, it contains a utility to
query and flash firmware of Prism2 adapters.
hostapd is a user space daemon for access point and authentication
servers. It implements IEEE 802.11 access point management, IEEE
802.1X/WPA/WPA2/EAP Authenticators, RADIUS client, EAP server, and
RADIUS authentication server. Currently, hostapd supports HostAP,
madwifi, and prism54 drivers. It also supports wired IEEE 802.1X
authentication via any ethernet driver.
iw is a nl80211 based CLI configuration utility for wireless devices. It
supports almost all new drivers that have been added to the kernel
recently.
This package enables the usage of PC-Cards with Linux. It provides
hotplug scripts, and tools that set up sockets and cards. Since kernel
2.6.13 card injection and removal are handled completely via hotplug.
Therefore, a daemon like 'cardmgr' is no longer needed. Soft ejecting
and inserting cards can be done with pccardctl (it was cardctl before).
There are also some tools for debugging and CIS handling.
This package contains the wireless tools, used to manipulate the
wireless extensions. The wireless extension is an interface that allows
you to set wireless LAN specific parameters and get specific stats.
b43-fwcutter can be used to extract firmware from Windows WLAN drivers
for Broadcom bcm43xx devices. The firmware is necessary to run such a
card under Linux using the b43 or b43legacy driver.
The Bluetooth stack for Linux.
Bluetooth(TM) Firmware. Package contains firmware images for some
Bluetooth(TM) adapters. Currently supported are: * Broadcom
Corporation BCM2033
* AVM Computersysteme Vertriebs GmbH BLUEFRITZ! USB
The BLUETOOTH trademarks are owned by Bluetooth SIG, Inc., USA.
The package contains libraries for using bluetooth audio services.

An HCI dumper for debugging Bluetooth connections for BlueZ.

wpa_supplicant is an implementation of the WPA Supplicant component,
i.e., the part that runs in the client stations. It implements key
negotiation with a WPA Authenticator and it controls the roaming and
IEEE 802.11 authentication/association of the wlan driver.
