There was libsidplay1, then libsidplay2... and then both died. Now we have libsidplayfp, which has been actively maintained for three years already. It's used by the latest qmmp. We have libsidplay1 because GStreamer supports it. So I can't see a reason not to have libsidplayfp. But they are not source compatible (GStreamer doesn't even support libsidplay2), so we have to keep libsidplay1 until somebody fixes GStreamer.
