Could this package be updated to v1.10.0 please?
There have been multiple fixes since the version in the Tumbleweed repo: https://github.com/ProtonVPN/linux-app/compare/1.7.0...master
The update is pending approval, soon will enter TW.
Sadly the app won't start (even with the "official release"). From the command line typing "protonvpn" all I can share with you is this:
ProtonVPN now offers an official Linux app which includes a graphical user interface. Visit https://protonvpn.com/support/official-linux-client to upgrade. Usage: protonvpn init protonvpn (c | connect) [<servername>] [-p <protocol>] protonvpn (c | connect) [-f | --fastest] [-p <protocol>] protonvpn (c | connect) [--cc <code>] [-p <protocol>] protonvpn (c | connect) [--sc] [-p <protocol>] protonvpn (c | connect) [--p2p] [-p <protocol>] protonvpn (c | connect) [--tor] [-p <protocol>] protonvpn (c | connect) [-r | --random] [-p <protocol>] protonvpn (r | reconnect) protonvpn (d | disconnect) protonvpn (s | status) protonvpn configure protonvpn refresh protonvpn examples protonvpn (-h | --help) protonvpn (-v | --version)
But really the GUI won't start.
That seems to be caused by some old pip dependency, check if you have a file
/home/<username>/.local/bin/protonvpn
and remove it. Or remove all protonvpn packages from pip, zypper and try to reinstall it.@avicenzi hi, can you make latest release for Opensuse .
Latest beta is now official stable version, but only for Ubuntu and Fedora. https://github.com/ProtonVPN/proton-vpn-gtk-app
Thanks
Have you tried the Fedora package? It might work on openSUSE.
I could package it for openSUSE, but I can't promise anything as I'm a bit busy.
i installed from the fedora repo, but when i tried to call proton vpn from bash i got importlib.metadata.PackageNotFoundError
here's the log for my installation process: https://gist.github.com/minhtrancccp/50e4a48dde9741cbd5df57182df3dfb1
I'm working on the new GUI package, it should be available in the upcoming days (or weeks).
Any update?
Not sure if this is the correct place to report this, but this package is missing a dependency:
python3-dataclasses
I don't see any missing dependencies on TW, the package is working with no issues.
Can you share some log or information on your setup?
This package is also being deprecated, there's a new GUI implementation that I'm currently packing for openSUSE.
