Has this been discussed with or sent to upstream?
This code doesn't exists anymore upstream, so I think it's fixed there, it's using
run_sync
fromjupyter_core
project. The whole async rewrite is the culprit why I did not submit the updated version to Factory. Not sure if the patch was worth it or a regular update would have had the same effect. Maybe it is time to break voila.
Where is your promised revert of the reversion in the devel project after the patch was accepted into Factory?
I've the update changes in a branch, I need to pull the new changes, but I'll create a new request for the devel pacakge with the update today.

ok, you updated the package now to 7.4.8, so no need to get back the 7.4.4 changes.
It still exists in the current stable version 7.4.8
Ok, I've reported upstream for the 7.x branch: https://github.com/jupyter/jupyter_client/issues/901
