Proposal to remove this package. There is nothing left (well, fox16, SR 1082922) that would appear to depend on this by name.

I fully agree. Please go ahead and remove the package from factory. I may still need it in X11:XOrg though, since I'm building there packages still for older distributions.

That's a lot for 'nothing'
I don't know how OBS gets to that conclusion that (e.g.)
st
is affected..
@jengelh What about
xorg-x11-devel
subpackage? I could imagine this would still be buildrequired by some packages. Possibly exactly the list Dominique mentioned above?oooh that's a nasty naming scheme.
Historical reasons. ;-)
Ok. I think it's obvious that @jengelh didn't check for
xorg-x11-devel
Requires/BuildRequires. I can confirm this list depending onxorg-x11-devel
BuildRequires:give at least a reason so we can work on it?
Well, you see the list Dominique and I posted, right? The potential issue here is, that by replacing BuildRequires: xorg-x11-devel by pkgconfig(...) lines you may miss some, which silently results in loss of functionality in one of these programs without noticing it. :-( I don't say it wouldn't be worth the effort and I would be happy eventually removing this meta package, but doing is not without a risk ...
The list has been operated on, I have made SRs for all the packages. All but 1 are accepted (as usual - a maintainer has seemingly disappeared).
How could I miss some? OBS's answer as to who's utilizing xorg-x11-(devel/libs) should be absolute and transitive, in other words, we should see installation failures in openQA.
Ok. So maybe you can do an update on this list and what SRs are still pending then.
Certainly.
@dimstar can you step in like in the fox16 case?
Maybe you can contact him directly.
SR was finally accepted
