Overview
Request 1087031 declined
I'm hoping this package might be considered for inclusion in Leap 15.5.
I'm aware it's quite late in the day and a release is hopefully scheduled
for next month, so apologies and no hard feelings if this is rejected. I'm
hoping that as this module is self-contained its inclusion won't be a problem.
Furthermore, this is the first package I've volunteered to maintain for
openSUSE, so please do excuse me for any 'cultural' faux pas I may be
making - I've endeavoured to read the guidelines and I hope this request
is in line with them. Please do let me know if I'm doing something wrong. :)
As a long-time TW user I recently requested that this package be included
in Factory - I use it myself and am willing to maintain it going forward.
Keeping an eye on the upstream project's issues, I noticed a Pull Request
submitted by a user of Leap 15.5 - backports for the 5.14 kernel in Leap
had broken the package for them.
Their submitted fixes were inappropriate for inclusion upstream, but
entirely appropriate for a distro-specific patch, so I have included them
in this package for Leap 15.5 builds in the hope that users of the distro
can benefit.
I would very much like to be able to make that more 'official' for them and
others, so I hope you'll alow this package to be included.
As regards the maintenance burden going forward, I don't anticipate this
package being a great deal of work - the upstream repository hasn't been
updated in over a year, and by the looks of things likely never will be again.
So presuming the kernel in 15.5 doesn't incorporate any drastic backports at
any point in the future this module should quite happily keep ticking over
until EOL.

I'm fine with have this package add to Leap, but we're past code freeze thus we aren't accept new package submission, please submit it to openSUSE:Leap:15.5:Update, we can release this as an maint update.
