Overview
Request 1093699 revoked
This is the command line only client for nextcloud-client, for use with non-X/minimal openSUSE installations.
In an ideal world, this would have been a subpackage split out of the main nextcloud-desktop package we have in obs://network and Factory, but I am forced to submit a whole new package since the maintainer of the nextcloud-desktop package will not accept (my) contributions and seems to not understand basic RPM dependencies despite my attempts. See, for example, https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/1060260.

I suggest to hold this back for now, as I've made another attempt to convince the maintainer of
nextcloud-desktop
to accept the split-off of the command line interface, because I think it would be absolute nonsense to have this as a separate package with exactly the same sources.BTW, I'd suggest
nextcloud-cli
as the name for the subpackage, because it tells exactly what the package does without being as clumsy asnextcloud-client-cmd
. But in the end, having it as a subpackage rather than a separate source package is more important than the naming. Many thanks, @rmax, but I'd rather not deal with that person anymore. This wasn't the first time dealing with him, so...
Anyway, about the name change, I can change the name as you suggest, but remembering that there is also a nextcloud server package which is just called 'nextcloud', perhaps nextcloud-client-cli might be a better name just to avoid confusion about whether this relates to nextcloud server or client. What do you think?
To me, this package is defintiively the wrong approach. The command already exists in a different package, the source is the same.
This really ought to be sorted out on the package level, not by duplicating packages that then risk drifting apart
I agree, but the problem is that the maintainer of the existing package seems to be strictly against creating the subpackage in a reasonable way, so what can we do about this?

Sorry folks, as I stated earlier, there is simply no circumstance under which I will submit any changes for the consideration of the package manager of nextcloud-desktop.
I understand that this package isn't acceptable to the Factory maintainers, so I am revoking this.
Thanks to Dominique and Reinhard for your attempts to help out with this.
If it's ok with you, I'll submit a change to the devel prj with your name as author (as it'll be basically the change which you submitted - with the package renamed to -cli)
I think we're quite close to have Eric accept it; seems to be the better solution to me than duplicating sorces
No objections from my side. Thanks for the help.
Anyway, aside from this particular sr, in the larger scheme of things, this is a bigger problem as I recall the same rude behaviour from the maintainer when I submitted even the relatively minor change of using rsvg-convert instead of inkscape as a BuildRequires.
May be someone else should in the least co-maintain that package so that other contributors aren't similarly turned off by one guy.
Dominique, I am ever so grateful to you for getting this over the line eventually. I honestly thought getting the changes into the main nextcloud-desktop pkg was a lost cause. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks.
