Hi @dimstar, looking around the build faliure should be caused by binutils/strip (see boo#1217108)

Should I reopen this once that is resolved, or is it better to have something like the follow in the spec file to skip the brp-15-strip-debug step, to make build work again and remove it afterwards? (Right now openSUSE:Factory/xdp-tools v1.3.1 is also failing to build)

Thanks for filing that bug report.

In this case I'd go with the workaround for short term - but please comment that in the spec file and remember to remove it again once the actual bug is fixed.
