The problem with this version scheme is that it is not guaranteed to be increasing. i.e the git sha has no version relevance.
For reference: other distros seem to have adopted a date-format for the version: https://repology.org/project/rofi-bluetooth/versions
To get to the date format, you could just use
%cd
as the version format (or%cd.%h
)we have @TAG_OFFSET@ for just this, see for example
librseq/_service
how to use thistag offset only works if you have a base tag. which is not the case here.

you can just define the first commit to be the parent-tag
