Thanks for all the pointers and proposals. I went with the currently upstream proposed meson parameter to enable the other loaders.
The decline here is only on that specific request - not on your help and pointers given at all.

The package 'home:manfred-h/gdk-pixbuf' has been removed
There should be a way to enable this simply by meson parameters - no need for a patch
AFAIU, there's -Doptional=yes or something similar, but this pulls in a whole lot of more "optional" formats. That's why I thought, it's more secure to just enable xbm and xpm.

I will have a look tomorrow when I am not just on the phone screen. One way or another we will get this fixed
Uptrseam recommends to use -Dothers=true for the time being - BUT the 'fringe loaders' are unmaintained and likely to disappear in 2.43.x of gdk-pixbuf (there is talk to offer them via an extra package, but that would still imply all the security issues related to those loaders)
