Request 1180868 superseded
Enable soft-reboot by default again as announced in https://microos.opensuse.org/blog/2024-06-13-soft-reboot/
This will probably require several changes in openQA tests because the reboot skips GRUB and initrd during a soft-reboot now. It will have to be checked whether the system actually did a soft-reboot instead.

Hi, there are some issues with the rebootmgr openQA test, see:
https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/4274773#step/rebootmgr/14
https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/4274774#step/rebootmgr/16
Yes, the messages that /etc cannot be unmounted are well known though.
They are caused by https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/13947, and this is happening since a long time already, see e.g. the video of the previous run in https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/4273686/video?filename=video.webm (timestamp: 15:49:43).
I'm not really sure why this pops up only now, but I assume it is because the messages will stay on screen a bit longer and / or the messages survive the soft-reboot and get persisted in the journal later.
The failure is because it expects GRUB. It fails exactly as expected.
What is expecting GRUB?
What can be the solution for sd-boot?
Answer: the test
Answer: update the test
I should add: The system is and has been working perfectly fine despite of that message.
That's explained in the SR message:
