Why forcing to ffmpeg 6? 'To fix build' seems not very explicit, considering the previous ffmpeg-7-based build was just a few hours old by the time this was forced back to ffmpeg6.
Sounds like two parallel intitatives happened - one to address the build by locking to ffmpeg6, one to address the issue by updating and supporting ffmpeg 7
+- Force ffmpeg-6 library use to fix build
+
+- Update to 1.3 to add support for FFmpeg 7.

The BuildRequires change doesn't make sense, ffmpeg 7 is the default in TW
It doesn't build with ffmpeg-7 have you even investigated why? ffmpeg-6 is going to be around for a long time
it builds with ff7 just fine here... what have you done?
The misunderstanding arose because this was in the changes file when I fixed the build with ffmpeg-6:
Tue Aug 27 07:54:58 UTC 2024 - Christophe Marin christophe@krop.fr
Somebody else had better fix this because when the delete request comes
I had a little spare time so I had a look and saw that it didn't build due to libavcodec so regretfully I got it to build with ffmpeg-6 but it seems like I made a big mistake because it appears that ffmpeg-6 isn't acceptable. I thought that a building package would be better than a failed one but it seems that this isn't the case now. The normal thing to do is have the building package and then get it to build with ffmpeg-7. I give a lot of time to openSUSE and this is my reward?
openSUSE:Factory - cutterff - Build problem notification Inbox DimStar / Dominique Leuenberger
Wed, Aug 21, 12:02 AM (6 days ago)
to me Dear Dave Plater,
Please be informed that 'cutterff' in openSUSE:Factory has a problem since Tue Aug 13 16:04:59 2024: Fails to build
See https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/openSUSE:Factory/cutterff
This can be due to an error in your package directly or could be caused by a package you depend on to build. In any case, please do your utmost to make the package building and usable again.
You will get another reminder in a week if the package still shows problems by then.
*** NOTE: This is an attempt to raise awareness of the maintainers about problems in openSUSE:Factory. You receive this mail because you are marked as maintainer for the above mentioned package (or project maintainer if the package has no explicit maintainer assigned)
Kind regards, DimStar / Dominique Leuenberger dimstar@opensuse.org
