That version does not guarantee strict increasing versions (as the git hashes could be anything on next commit)
I'm open for suggestions to what to use instead - I can not use tag+offset as there is not even a single tag done :-(
sorry - saw the question only now. Your '.0' is perfectly fine (especially as we are not having the package in Factory).
In other cases I'd do something like +g.%cd - %cd being 'commit date'
