@babelworx: back-ported superlu patches, created one for lzo and sent upstream, and now can build without the thirdparty directory apart from lzo/driver and patched tiff.

From prep section:

+find thirdparty/* -maxdepth 0 ! -name "tiff-*" ! -name "lzo" -type d -exec rm -r "{}" \;
+# Keep thirdparty/lzo/driver, but remove library.
+rm -r thirdparty/lzo/2.*

The resulting directories remaining:

thirdparty/tiff-4.0.3
thirdparty/lzo/driver

Based on previous review this should fix your concerns.
