Do we really care about having the new DPDK (17.08) available for -SP3? I mean is there a business case for it? If not then I'd suggest to skip the newly added patch to fix KNI for "old" kernels and not bring that legacy forward.

Probably not, but this is openSUSE so 'business case' is not so relevant here :) However, I am 50-50 on that. We can simply drop anything that refers to <4.12 kernels or keep the patch anyway since it's not too much overhead to carry.

First, apologies I wrote -SP3 but I really meant Leap42.3. My bad. Honestly, I was suggesting to drop it since the patch is really spaghetti code. Having said that though, if you guys are Ok with maintaining it then I am fine with it. I was simply playing devil's advocate here :)

imho if its not too much work, keep the patch

@ndas in the dpdk.spec file we explicitly enable ppc64le platform but the build is failing for that.
