Has anyone seen that qgis package break for 42.x?
Yes, it is known. Leap 42.x misses lots of deps for QGis 3. You can manage to build QGis 3 but without 3D and Python supports, which is useless. That is why we have qgis-ltr with 2.18.x and also qgis-leagcy with previous LTR 2.14.x.
