Would %ctest macro not work for tests? Also what about pkgconfig dependency that is going away? Also no mention of packaging changes in changelog ...

I've added an entry into the changelog mentioning the packaging changes and also the dropping of the BuildRequires (these are no longer necessary).

Unfortunately the %ctest macro does not work here, because ctest must be invoked from the tests subdirectory but the ctest macro performs a cd build. Also, upstream uses make check in their CI pipeline so I've sticked with that so far.
