makewhat itself lacks the alternatives handling still. What about simply conflicting? makewhat is not needed normally anyways.
also, trying it: update-alternatives: error: alternative man.7.gz can't be slave of man: it is a master alternative warning: %post(mandoc-1.14.5-2.2.x86_64) scriptlet failed, exit status 2
update-alternatives --remove needs to be in %postun @opensuse-review-team
