Why this reference to gnome-screensaver?
@dimstar budgie screensaver is just a fork of gnome-screensaver (really just a patched version needed for Budgie 10 to work properly) , it doesn't even change the name to budgie screensaver in any of the files. Upstream are hoping for a more permanent solution for Budgie 11.
Debian , Ubuntu and Arch don't have budgie screensaver because they kept gnome screensaver. openSUSE ditched it while GNOME stopped needing it but Budgie was designed with it being there.
ok, so just a terrible hack in total. Let's live with it for now
