I tried this rpm on 15.2; none of the pcf fonts can be loaded.
$ fc-list|grep -i suse12 /usr/share/fonts/misc/suse12x22.pcf.gz: suse12x22.pcf:style=Regular $ xterm -fa 'suse12x22.pcf' (uses a font that definitely isn't 12x22)
Let me pitch the idea that you can just use MxPlus IBM VGA 9x16
from int10h-oldschoolpc-fonts.rpm. psf2bdf.pl could also be replaced by /usr/bin/vfontas -loadpsf xxx.psf -savebdf xxx.bdf
(hxtools.rpm)
Did you reload fonts, as mentioned in the documentation? This is used mostly on Leap 15.2 workers.
The thing with documentation is that, from a end-user perspective, there isn't any:
- The RPM package has no files in /usr/share/doc.
- The %description does not mention any special prerequisites.
- https://github.com/os-autoinst/xterm_console/blob/master/README.md is just the description.
$ xterm-console --help xterm: bad command line option "--help" $ man xterm-console No manual entry for xterm-console
Only with developer mode on, did I find it..
xterm also has a fixed cursor 1 pixel high; the IBM VGA console uses 2 pixels. Furthermore, the blink rate on VGA depends on the vertical refresh rate. Rumour has it that the ontime and offtime is 8 ticks each, so to mimic a 720x400@85Hz setup in mode 0, the ontime and offtime would have to be 94 ms; for a 800x600@60Hz VESA mode, it would be 133 ms. @mkittler
This is already being used successfully by openQA for several years, the functionality is proven.
