Tidy is a console application for that corrects and cleans up HTML and XML documents by fixing markup errors and upgrading legacy code to modern standards.

libtidy is a C library that developers can integrate into their applications in order to bring all of Tidy’s power to your favorite tools.

Testbed for MgE's packages, ... currently: gq, iozone, ploticus, sitar, xenman, yup (incl. special curl for SLES 9)

Bastille is a system hardening / lockdown program which enhances the
security of a Unix host. It configures daemons, system settings and
firewalls to be more secure. It can shut off unneeded services and r-tools,
like rcp and rlogin, and helps create "chroot jails" that help limit the
vulnerability of common Internet services like Web services and DNS.

This tool currently hardens Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Legacy, and Fedora
Core, as well as Debian, SUSE, Gentoo, Mandrake Linux, Mac OS X, and HP-UX.

If run in the preferred Interactive mode, it can teach you a good deal about
Security while personalizing your system security state. If run in the
quicker Automated mode, it can quickly tighten your machine, but not nearly
as effectively (since user/sysadmin education is an important step!)

Bastille can also assess the state of a system, which may serve as
an aid to security administrators, auditors and system administrators
who wish to investigate the state of their system's hardening without
making changes to such.

To run:

-bastille [(-b|-c|-r|-x|--assess|--assessnobrowser)]

-b : use a saved config file to apply changes directly to system
-c : use the Curses (non-X11) GUI
-r : revert Bastille changes to original file versions (pre-Bastille)
-x : use the Perl/Tk (X11) GUI
--assess : use the assessment functionality, viewing results in a browser
--assessnobrowser: use the assessment functionality without a browser

Open Vulnerability and Assessment Language (OVAL®) is an international, information security, community standard to promote open and publicly available security content, and to standardize the transfer of this information across the entire spectrum of security tools and services. OVAL includes a language used to encode system details, and an assortment of content repositories held throughout the community. The language standardizes the three main steps of the assessment process: representing configuration information of systems for testing; analyzing the system for the presence of the specified machine state (vulnerability, configuration, patch state, etc.); and reporting the results of this assessment. The repositories are collections of publicly available and open content that utilize the language.

The OVAL community has developed three schemas written in Extensible Markup Language (XML) to serve as the framework and vocabulary of the OVAL Language. These schemas correspond to the three steps of the assessment process: an OVAL System Characteristics schema for representing system information, an OVAL Definition schema for expressing a specific machine state, and an OVAL Results schema for reporting the results of an assessment.

FreeTDS is a free (open source) implementation of Sybase's db-lib,
ct-lib, and ODBC libraries. FreeTDS builds and runs on every flavor of
unix-like systems we've heard of, as well as Win32 (with or without
Cygwin), VMS, and Mac OS X. Failure to build on your system is probably
considered a bug. It has C language bindings, and works also with Perl
and PHP, among others.

FreeTDS is licensed under the GNU LGPL license. See COPYING.LIB for details.

Dante is a free implementation of the following proxy protocols: socks
version 4, socks version 5 (rfc1928), and msproxy. It can be used as a
firewall between networks. It is being developed by Inferno Nettverk
A/S, a Norwegian consulting company. Commercial support is available.

This package contains the dynamic libraries required to make existing
applications become socks clients.

Sitar prepares system information using perl and binary tools, and by
reading the /proc file system. Output is in HTML, LaTeX and (docbook)
XML, and can be converted to PS and PDF.

This program must be run as "root".

sitar.pl includes scsiinfo by Eric Youngdale, Michael Weller
and ide_info by David A. Hinds
.

The accompanying tool "cfg2scm" is supplied for checking configuration
changes into SCMs (like SVN, CVS, ...) or creating a tar-file with all
relevant files.

Comment: Sitar is an ancient Indian instrument as well.

storeBackup is a disk-to-disk backup tool for Linux. It should run on
other Unix like machines. You can directly browse through the backuped
files (locally, via NFS, via SAMBA or whatever). This gives the users
the possibility to restore files absolutely easily and fast. He/She
only has to copy (and possibly uncompress) the file. The is also a
tool for easily restoring (sub) trees for the administrator. Every
single backup of a specific time can be deleted without affecting the
other existing backups.

Before you can start using storeBackup, please carefully read
/usr/share/doc/packages/storeBackup/README
and create an appropriate configuration file
/etc/storebackup.d/storebackup.config
using
/usr/share/doc/packages/storeBackup/storebackup.config.default
as a template.

THE is a text editor that uses both command line commands and key
bindings to operate. It is intended to be similar to the VM/CMS System
Product Editor, XEDIT, and to Mansfield Software's, KEDIT.
