Involved Projects and Packages

This is Guile, a portable, embeddable Scheme implementation written in
C. Guile provides a machine independent execution platform that can be
linked in as a library when building extensible programs.

Crypto++ Library is a free C++ class library of cryptographic schemes.

pugixml is a light-weight C++ XML processing library. It features:

- DOM-like interface with rich traversal/modification capabilities
- Extremely fast non-validating XML parser which constructs the DOM tree from
an XML file/buffer
- XPath 1.0 implementation for complex data-driven tree queries
- Full Unicode support with Unicode interface variants and automatic encoding
conversions

The library is extremely portable and easy to integrate and use.

The robin-map library is a C++ implementation of a fast hash map and hash set
using open-addressing and linear robin hood hashing with backward shift
deletion to resolve collisions.
Four classes are provided: tsl::robin_map, tsl::robin_set, tsl::robin_pg_map
and tsl::robin_pg_set. The first two are faster and use a power of two growth
policy, the last two use a prime growth policy instead and are able to cope
better with a poor hash function. Use the prime version if there is a chance of
repeating patterns in the lower bits of your hash (e.g. you are storing
pointers with an identity hash function). See GrowthPolicy for details.
A benchmark of tsl::robin_map against other hash maps may be found here. This
page also gives some advices on which hash table structure you should try for
your use case (useful if you are a bit lost with the multiple hash tables
implementations in the tsl namespace).

PortAudio is a portable audio I/O library designed for cross-platform
support of audio. It uses a callback mechanism to request audio
processing. Audio can be generated in various formats, including 32 bit
floating point, and will be converted to the native format internally.

The unRAR utility is a freeware program distributed with source code
and developed for extracting, testing, and viewing the contents of
archives created with the RAR archiver.

LilyPond is a music typesetter, an automated engraving system. It produces beautiful sheet music using a high level description file as input.
LilyPond supports many forms of music notation constructs, including chord names, drum notation, figured bass, grace notes, guitar tablature, modern notation (cluster notation and rhythmic grouping), tremolos, (nested) tuplets in arbitrary ratios, and more. LilyPond's text-based music input language support can integrate into LaTeX, HTML and Texinfo seamlessly, allowing single sheet music or musicological treatises to be written from a single source. Form and
content are separate, and with LilyPond's expert automated formatting, users don't need typographical expertise to produce good notation.
LilyPond produces PDF, PostScript, SVG, or TeX printed output, as well as MIDI for listening pleasures. LilyPond is exported from the RoseGarden and NoteEdit GUIs, and can import ABC, ETF and MIDI. LilyPond is part of the GNU Project.

Audacity is a program that manipulates digital audio wave forms. In
addition to recording sounds directly from within the program, it
imports many sound file formats, including WAV, AIFF, AU, IRCAM, MP,
and Ogg Vorbis. With Audacity, you can edit wave data larger than the
physical memory size of your computer.

Buzztrax (formerly known as Buzztard) is a music production environment, based on a very modular approach taking many concepts from trackers a step further. It runs under Linux and is compatible to the windows only and close source software Buzz. The backend is using GStreamer as a multimedia framework. It can use Alsa, Jack, PulseAudio and other audio interfaces.

Carla is an audio plugin host, with support for many audio drivers
and plugin formats. It features automation of parameters via MIDI CC
and full OSC control. It currently supports LADSPA, DSSI, LV2, VST2/3
and AU plugin formats, plus GIG, SF2 and SFZ sounds banks.
It futher supports bridging Window plugins using Wine.

guitarix is a simple Linux Rock Guitar Amplifier for jack (Jack Audio Connektion Kit) with one input and two outputs. Designed to get nice thrash/metal/rock/blues guitar sounds. There are controls for bass, middle, treble, gain (in/out), compressor, preamp, tube's, drive, overdrive, oversample, anti-aliase, fuzz, balance, distortion, freeverb, impulse response, vibrato , crybaby(wah) and echo. For 'pressure' in the sound you can use the feedback and feedforward sliders.

Hydrogen is a software synthesizer which can be used alone, emulating
a drum machine based on patterns, or via an external MIDI
keyboard/sequencer software.

It features a modular and graphical interface based on QT5, has a
sample-based stereo audio engine, with import of sound samples in PCM
formats. Furthermore, a pattern-based sequencer with the ability to
chain patterns into a song. Up to 64 ticks per pattern with
individual level per event and variable pattern length are possible.
32 instrument tracks with volume, mute, solo, pan capabilities are
provided, and there is multi-layer support for instruments (up to 16
samples for each instrument). Human velocity, human time, pitch and
swing functions are implemented as well.
