The patch was written by a SUSE employee to fix a customer problem. Upstream does not respond to e-mail and does not publish their sources in a public VCS system, so we cannot easily upstream it.
the patch file should have authorship info (and a patch rationale), so if there's ever a question, one knows who to contact.
